What to Expect

Evaluation sessions for team placement will be held prior to the start of the season and will be organized by grade. All players must attend their assigned session.

4 Divisions will be offered for FALL: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced & High School with varied rules for each division.

Select players in 7th & 8th grade may be invited to join the High School league based on skill level after their evaluation session but will only be allowed to play in one division.

Practices will be 1.5 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday OR Friday and will be determined by team placement.

Practice/Game start times will be determined based on team placement.

Games will be on Saturday Mornings and the schedule will be posted prior to the beginning of the season.

All teams will make playoffs which will determine seating for the 2-Day Finals Tournament

A BYC Volleyball Family Day Celebration will be held during the season including food, contests & awards ceremony. All players should plan to attend.

All games will have refs and scorekeepers.

Work teams will be assigned select weeks (Intermediate & Advanced divisions only) during the season for line judging and a minimum of 6 players MUST be at the gym at their scheduled time to avoid a penalty (TBD).

Sports Engine will be used for practice/game availability and team announcements.

All teams will have a combination of boys and girls (depending on registration numbers)

All players will be provided with a game jersey. It is recommended that players also wear knee pads and bring a water bottle (not provided) to practices & games.

All age groups will spend time learning and improving individual volleyball skills including overhand serving, passing, setting & hitting.

The players will be taught how to play the game and be encouraged to combine passing, setting and hitting into 3 hit attacks as their skills develop.
